HABAKKUK: God is Working

Series: HABAKKUK

Summary

HABAKKUK

Trusting God in Troubled Times

Habakkuk was a prophet who lived in Judah during the reign of Josiah.  Growing up he would have seen the reforms of this good king.  But now he is witnessing the moral and spiritual depravity of his people and wonders why God has not intervened.

The picture (dry ground, rocks & withered tree) is descriptive of the troubled times that the prophet Habakkuk lived in.  Dry and withered times is what Habakkuk's eyes saw.  Not unlike our day today there are many injustices that we see that make us wonder if God is really actively and providentially watching over us.  Unless we see with the eyes of faith we can easily become discouraged.  Habakkuk discovered this truth and is famous for saying, "...the righteous shall live by his faith." This is echoed in the New Testament (Romans, Galatians, and Hebrews all mention this.)

As we explore this message of Habakkuk we will answer the two main questions: 1) Where are you? and 2) Why are you doing this?

We will see this is a message that will instill in the prophet, as well as us, a deepened, resilient faith amid perplexing bewilderment.  It is our path to become Christian's who are unflappable in our faith!
