Passage: 2 Samuel 24:10-25
David shows us that he is very fallible and the prophesy of Nathan is meted out. David's indiscretion with Bathsheba has led to (1) the sword not departing from his house; (2) multiple indiscretions by his children including rape and murder; and (3) the death of his own son. These three were pronounced by Nathan. However, "David Takes the Blame" shows us how after numbering the people David pleads with God to "let your hand be against me and against my father's house." This causes God's wrath to yield and points to a future time when His wrath would be fully placed upon David's greater Son Jesus. We can scarcely take in such mercies!
