Passage: Luke 2:1-20
The same body that was wrapped in swaddling cloths was also wrapped in a burial shroud. The Advent of Christ reminds us that the manger points us to the cross and to the grave, showing how we are saved: by the humility of our Savior. Jesus, the second Person of the Trinity, took off his heavenly garments and allow Himself to be clothed in swaddling cloths and then ultimately stripped, beaten, nailed, and clothed in a burial shroud. But this was not the final garment. He was then raised for God's glory and our justification and redemption and finally clothed again in heavenly garments. We are given the promise that we too shall be clothed in these; putting on the imperishable. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
