The Glory of Christ

Passage: John 17:1-5

In this Sunday's sermon from John 17:1-5, we are privileged to witness the intimacy of prayer between Jesus, the Son, and His Father. This prayer is in some sense a model for us, but in another sense it is the unique Second Person of the Trinity praying to the First Person of the Trinity. It contains no repentance of sin. To the contrary, Jesus acknowledges His perfect obedience to the will of the Father. Therefore, this is uniquely the Lord's prayer and the prayer we call "The Lord's Prayer" would be more accurately called "The Disciple's Prayer."
This prayer affirms that our eternal life is grounded in the glory of Christ as our sinless eternal Savior who died in our place to take away the sin of the world!
