The Hour Has Come

Passage: John 12:20-36

In today’s text Jesus predicted his death is forward looking in His willingness to lay down his life as a necessary payment for our sins in order to satisfy the justice of God thereby perfectly meeting the demands of the law—in our place. Jesus says, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. "Jesus is speaking of “the hour” meaning, the hour of his death. For this reason, Jesus is our perfect substitute making atonement for sin once and for all our sin for whoever would believe on Him. We are the fruit of Jesus' death. But for now, Jesus must face the cross. We must know that for Jesus THE HOUR HAS COME.
