In the third chapter of Colossians Paul gets into specifics regarding the way Christians ought to conduct themselves.
Genuine spiritual "Christian" living is behaving in accordance with the character of Christ and relationships are the proving grounds. It has been said that "Being a Christian would be easy if it weren't for all the messy people we have to deal with!" Well, it could be that people who say this don't recognize they are one of the messy ones!
The Christian must now treat others with a new ethic—one that includes the Lord Jesus’ grace and righteousness. Then, since they have experienced the grace of Christ, Paul calls on them to be gracious to one another: wives submit fittingly (cf. Eph. 5:22–24), husbands love sacrificially (cf. Eph. 5:25–32), children obey rightly (cf. Eph. 6:1–3), parents discipline unprovokingly (cf. Eph. 6:4), workers work diligently (cf. Eph. 6:5–8), and bosses act justly SERMON AUDIO(cf. Eph. 6:9). This is the beauty of the life into which the gospel of grace calls us.
